Two WWII rifle stocks: M1 Garand, Finnish M39
I've kept these stocks on hand so that I could practice glass bedding a few of my rifles. Unfortunately, my toddler has kept me from having any time to spare!

Top: Finnish M39
Condition: Unserviceable. Arctic birch. The buttstock, as you can see, has broken off. The upper handguard has a very fine crack about 3" long. Might be a good candidate to practice plugging, bedding, and crack repair on.

Bottom: M1 Garand
Condition: Serviceable, fits snug, no cracks, chips, or dents. This walnut stock is missing its cartouches and it's very smooth. My guess is that it has been sanded at some point. The finish looks like a laquer which is not period correct. It can be removed and properly finish with flaxseed oil (closest to WWII era's linseed oil).
